The Wavetek 1396 is the highest performance VXI arbitrary waveform generator. The Wavetek 1396 is a single width C-Sized VXI module and has option EM512 which adds 512k of memory. The 1396 is ideal for applications requiring both standard function generator and custom waveform capability. Standard sine waves are available to 20 MHz, with square waves to 25 MHz. User-defined waveforms, with 12-bit vertical resolution, may be created with as few as 5 waveform points and up to 131,072 points (524,288 points optional). For simulating complex waveform sequences, the linked sequence mode of the Wavetek 1396 allows linking and looping of up to 4096 waveform segments. The sample frequency of each waveform segment in a sequence can be independently programmed as an integer divisor of the highest sampling frequency in the sequence. In addition to the standard built-in sweep capability, the 1396 offers a frequency list function which can be used for custom sweeping or frequency hopping applications. Standard waveforms may be phase synchronized with waveforms from adjacent modules for applications requiring multichannel phase control. The 1396 also supports the VXIbus SUMBUS for summing of analog signals from multiple instruments. To simplify programming and help reduce development time, the 1396 supports dynamic configuration (DC), is message based, and SCPI compatible. Some of the specifications of the Wavetek 1396 are:
